If you are seeing this page, that means that you have received a Ceramic Coating Installation from GreenTree Auto Styling! We want to thank you for your business and your continued support! This page is dedicated to providing as much value and information as possible so that your Ceramic Coating is able to reach its full potential! As you scroll down, you'll see different tid-bits of information that will help you maintain your freshly Ceramic Coated vehicle properly.
It is VERY important to remember that the #1 reason why a Ceramic Coating may fail prematurely is because the owner of the vehicle did not properly care for it or follow the recommended maintenance routines set-forth by the Coating installer.
The Curing Process
A new IGL Ceramic Coating will take about 5-7 days to cure to its full strength. During that time, some precautions should be taken.
During the curing process avoid:
- Parking under a trees; especially if they are shedding. You don’t want tree sap on a fresh coating.
Allowing bird droppings, sap or pollen to sit on the car and bake in the sun.
Washing or abrading the paint.
If you notice that your car gets water spots, bird droppings, bugs, tree sap or other contaminants during the first two weeks, immediately remove it following our care instructions in the next section.
The Care Process
The BEST way to care for your new Ceramic Coating is by bringing it to GreenTree Auto Styling for routine Maintenance Washes. We highly recommend bi-weekly washes.
If you get a bird dropping, sap, or other contaminant on your new coating, follow these steps:
- Use a Water-Based Quick Detailer to lubricate the surface.
Use a new, low-pile microfiber to gently remove the contaminants.
Do your best to not "Scrub" the paint. Allow the product and microfiber to do the work.
Keep in mind the coating is still soft.
Be gentle when working on the paint!
Car Wash Do's & Don'ts
In-Depth Maintenance & Aftercare
Washing your car at home
A Ceramic Coating is extremely slick which means most things will dissolve and be pulled off by your Coatings self-cleaning effect.
Minimizing rubbing (especially with a dry towel) on the coating will ensure its longevity.
Use a water-based Detail Spray to remove bird droppings, bugs, and tree sap.
Follow that by wiping it off with a soft edge-less microfiber towel.
For best results the car should be washed on a bi-weekly basis to avoid excessive contamination build-up.
Use only PH-Neutral soaps with no waxes.
Follow the instructions on the "Do's & Don'ts" page for our recommended wash method.
Start by blow-drying the vehicle with a leaf-blower.
Using a Detail Spray as a drying aid and one damp microfiber to first dry the vehicle followed by using second microfiber to finish drying the vehicle. This process will give you the best results.
Always dry completely and never leave to “air” dry. Tap water contains minerals that may leave deposits creating water spots.
Only use quality microfiber towels for best results and avoid aggressive wiping; allow the material to absorb the water.
Never use aggressive products to polish the coating or remove surface contamination.
Never use excessive force to remove spots.
Bird droppings, tar, sap, etc. should be removed as soon as possible to avoid temporary staining or hardening on the coating.
Do not wax the coating. It is unnecessary and the wax will not bond to the coating.
A water-based Detail Spray is the recommended maintenance and aftercare product.
Always go to a touch-free wash! Using an automated car wash with brushes will void the warranty and dull the coating.
Our coatings take up to 1 week to achieve full hardness. Please handle with care and do not wash the vehicle for the first week, if possible.
Leather and Fabric Maintenance Program
For best results, all leather/vinyl surfaces should be wiped bi-weekly with a leather/interior cleaner to avoid contaminant build-up and to replenish the natural oils.
Vacuum carpets regularly and use carpet & fabric cleaners when necessary.
Immediately wipe off spills on leather, vinyl, or fabric.
Annual Inspections are recommended for ensuring the coating is maintained and care for the vehicle is properly executed. Annual inspections should be carried out by an approved installer within 30 days before the anniversary date of the last service to ensure peak performance. Although durable and long lasting, annual inspections ensure maximum gloss and protection from IGL Coatings.
